Police release video of HGV driver who failed to stop after incident on M1

Police are hunting an HGV driver who was caught on camera colliding with a motorist on the M1 and failing to stop.

Footage released by the police shows the driver of the truck, which was carrying yellow and red gas bottles, veering across motorway lanes before striking the rear of a black Peugeot on 4 March at around 1.30pm.

The car then loses control and crashes into metal barriers, leaving the driver and passengers uninjured but shaken.

However, the HGV driver failed to stop and now South Yorkshire police are appealing for the trucker to get in contact.

Natalie Booler, roads policing officer, said: “We are appealing for the driver of the HGV to come forward and assist us with our investigation, or for anyone who witnessed the incident to provide us with information.

“It is likely that the HGV vehicle returned to its place of work with significant damage.”
