Pall-Ex says it has had successful start to its new night-time delivery service in the capital, with 4% of the pallet network’s London’s volumes already migrated to the new service within the first week of operation.
The overnight service, which covers all postcodes affected by Olympics delivery restrictions, delivers to customers between 6pm and 6am, with take-up from some of the capital’s major high street brands and businesses.
Pall-Ex MD Adrian Russell says: “This new service has already made a big impact in a relatively short space of time. Over the coming weeks, we expect pallet volumes to continue to grow. It’s an exceptionally busy time in London and we are making sure that the supply chain continues to flow and that businesses can continue to operate as normal.”
He adds that there has been much emphasis on “legacy” after the Games have finished, and Pall-Ex will aim to make the new service a permanent addition to its London operation for the long-term. However, it will be tweaked to run from 6pm to midnight every evening, rather than all night.
The London overnight service is being supported by Pall-Ex’s TWINE IT system, which monitors traffic and event schedules, providing constant updates on address accessibility and the overnight service necessity.
