Pall-Ex Group has formally launched Pall-Ex Logistics, which integrates its recently launched 3PL division with its five owned operations - Intercounty Distribution; Pall-Ex Logistics (Basildon); Shears Brothers Transport; For-Ex Distribution Network Services; and Cranleigh Distribution Services.
The move is part of Pall-Ex’s plans to become more than a pallet network, enabling it to expand into new markets by integrating storage, fulfilment and logistics under one unified brand, with sites in Northampton, Essex, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall and Surrey. The Pall-Ex Logistics livery and branding are now being rolled out across the sites.
Announcing the launch the pallet network said Pall-Ex Logistics will enable the five owned locations to highlight the services they offer beyond their pallet network responsibilities, including bonded warehousing, long-term and short-term storage, general haulage and container decanting.
Pall-Ex Logistics has also joined forces with a collection of Pall-Ex’s UK shareholder members to create a nationwide warehouse and fulfilment network. Collectively they can store over 300,000 pallets across multiple UK locations with more shareholder member businesses joining in the coming months.
Speaking to MT, Kevin Buchanan, Pall-Ex group chief executive, said: “Currently we have around 15 to 20 shareholder members involved and we would like to see that expand to 25 to 30 members for complete national coverage.
“It offers our members the opportunity to combine and bid for work they couldn’t bid for individually - so if a client wants to keep stock in 20 locations, they now have the capacity and identity to win those contracts - and there is a need for that service in the market. This offers an added value opportunity for members giving them an additional income stream.”
Colin Hawkins, Pall-Ex owned operations UK director, said the launch of Pall-Ex Logistics elevates Pall-Ex’s owned operations to the next level, providing a full-service solution for customers.
He added: “The core of Pall-Ex Logistics lies in its state-of-the-art storage facilities, its flagship warehouse boasts an area of 75,000 square feet and capacity for 7,000 pallets. Pall-Ex Group’s investment in its infrastructure signifies its commitment to scaling new heights in logistics excellence.”
Barry Byers, Pall-Ex MD of UK business units, commented: “We are continually looking at ways to improve our service offering. Pall-Ex Logistics gives us the ability to provide a full-scale logistics solution to SMEs throughout the country. Supported by our market-leading IT and two-hour ETA window, we look forward to supporting more businesses with a complete freight solution.”
