FM Conway’s sale to Vinci Construction, announced in October, has now reached completion, the French construction giant announced this week.
The deal sees FM Conway chief executive Joanne Conway step down as chief executive and director Andrew Hansen, who joined FM Conway in 1998, promoted to MD.
Mark Goldsworthy remains as the company’s financial officer and Vinci directors Xavier Lansade and Scott Wardrop will join FM Conway’s board.
Family-led firm FM Conway was launched in 1961 by Frank Conway. It employs over 2,000 staff and operates a fleet of around 250 vehicles and has its head office in Sevenoaks.
The firm specialises in public sector projects and has an annual turnover of around £580m.
Announcing the completion of the sale, Vinci said FM Conway continues to operate as a standalone business but will benefit from the wider group support and resources.
Andrew Hansen, added: “This is an exciting new chapter in FM Conway’s story, opening up fantastic opportunities for how we deliver for our clients and for communities.
“We’ve always been a company that has pushed boundaries and embraced new opportunities.
“Over the past 27 years, I’ve had the pleasure of seeing first hand what this business can accomplish.
“Now with the additional firepower of Vinci Construction behind us, I’ve no doubt that our people will continue to achieve great things. The future is very bright.”
Scott Wardrop, chief executive of VINCI Construction in the UK, said: “I am very pleased to welcome the FM Conway team to VINCI.
“I have known the family and senior team for a long time, respected the culture, the innovation and professionalism, which complements the businesses of VINCI Construction.
“I know we will learn from each other, and firmly believe that successful and sustainable infrastructure services businesses, must have knowledge of their whole supply chain – FM Conway strengthens our capability.”
