Bathrooms and appliances supplier PJH has invested in new contract-hire vehicles from Asset Alliance Group as part of a major fleet renewal programme.

The company has taken delivery of 14 DAF XF tractor units, and 20 new 7.5-tonner DAF LF box trucks in a multi-million-pound, multi-year deal which includes the repair and maintenance of the hire vehicles.

PJH, which has its headquarters in Bolton, carries out 3,000 store and home deliveries for retailer B&Q each week and also supplies its products to independent retailers, builders merchants and house builders. It has additional distribution centres in Glasgow, Cannock, Bristol and Enfield in London.

The company, which employs 185 drivers, typically replaces 30 to 40 vehicles every year. These latest additions will be used to renew PJH’s distribution and home delivery fleet.

Shaun Berry, PJH national transport manager, said: “Our vehicle fleet has grown by 30% in just over three years. Having vehicles on contract hire means we are in control of our monthly overheads, knowing the fleet is always maintained to the highest standards.”

This latest deal was handled by Stuart Sadler, Asset Alliance Group business development manager for the Midlands. Currently 100 of PJH’s 130-strong vehicle fleet have been sourced via the commercial vehicle specialist.

Berry added: “We have built a strong rapport with Stuart and always receive first-class service from the business. They are competitive on price and it’s a great overall package. Working with Asset Alliance Group makes my life easier, affording time to focus my energies where they’re needed.”

The two companies have worked together since 2018, and the relationship has more miles to run with Asset Alliance Group due to supply 21 MAN TGE panel vans to PJH later this year.
