Pall-Ex Group’s warehousing and storage subsidiary, Pall-Ex Logistics, is significantly enhancing its services in Devon, Cornwall and the wider South West region with the construction of a logistics centre.
Businesses throughout the region will benefit from next-day palletised freight distribution, warehousing, fulfilment and storage, groupage and LCL shipping, as well as general haulage services.
Construction is now under way in Launceston, Cornwall, a prime location with excellent transport links to the surrounding area and easy access to both the A30 and A39.
Spanning a 110,000sq ft site on three acres, the hub features a 20,000sq ft warehouse, an open-sided canopy for the safe loading and unloading of vehicles, a dock-leveller facility within the covered canopy, an office and administrative space and dedicated battery storage.
The site also features a concrete yard to provide hardstanding for trucks and trailers and is designed for ‘forward only’ movement of lorries arriving on-site, effectively minimising waiting times, enhancing health and safety protocols and ensuring smooth traffic flow. The hub will also incorporate solar panels and electric vehicle charging points.
Paul Pegg, MD at Pall-Ex Logistics, said: “Devon and Cornwall is a key location for Pall-Ex Logistics, and we are thrilled to announce that construction is underway.
“This new facility is a bold statement of our unwavering commitment to the region, and we are excited to see businesses from across the area take full advantage of what we have to offer.
“Our comprehensive solutions are designed for everyone, from large enterprises to start-ups and SME. One of our core strengths is the ability to support businesses to scale effectively. Customers can leverage our expansive distribution network and smart storage options, all visible on our dedicated customer portal MyNexus.
“Our main aim now is to recruit the right people to ensure the facility is the best in the region. We are already looking for additional HGV drivers to facilitate the business’s growth.”
Added Kevin Buchanan, Pall-Ex Group chief executive: “Our primary focus, commitment, and investment will always be in people, technology, and sustainability. The £10m investment in our purpose-built logistics centre in Cornwall will provide the best facilities in the region, supporting the delivery of excellence for our local, national and international customers.
“The addition of our UK storage and fulfilment network allows us to offer businesses a comprehensive logistics solution. We are more than just a pallet network, as our new logistics centres provide businesses with a complete logistics solution.
“As a group, we opened a purpose-built central hub in Sibu, Romania, last year, and we currently have several major developments underway, including our £80 million flagship hub in Leicestershire and our central hub in Saint-Florent, France.”
