On the Rocks Group is expanding its reach into the logistics sector, just weeks after buying Martyn Barratt Transport out of administration, with the purchase of BMB Logistics, which called in the administrators earlier this month.

BMB Logistics has been bought by B&P Fine Foods, which is part of Birmingham-based On The Rocks Group, a UK frozen food and wholesale ice cream supplier which launched in 2020.The group operates a temperature-controlled nationwide delivery network, seven days a week, with next-day availability.

The acquisition of BMB Logistics closely follows the purchase of Nottingham-based haulier Martyn Barratt Transport, by Zero Degree Logistics, which is also part of On the Rocks group.

Martyn Barrett called in the administrators on 13 June and was bought in the same week by Zero Degree Logistics. The haulier cited “sustained cost pressures, including increases in the National Minimum Wage, National Insurance Contributions and vehicle operating costs, alongside the owner’s planned retirement” as key reasons for its demise.

BMB Logistics is based in Tonbridge, Kent. The company was founded in 2022 and has an operating licence for 24 trucks and 24 trailers. It specialises in delivering temperature controlled goods including pharmaceuticals, perishable foods, and biotechnology materials across the UK.

All staff at BMB Logistics are to be kept on, the group confirmed this week.

Amit Sharma, director of B&P Fine Foods and On The Rocks, said: “BMB Logistics has built a strong reputation over many years, and our goal is to build upon that foundation by investing in people, infrastructure, technology, and long-term growth.”
