InPost Group saw record UK volumes in Q4 2024, delivering 27.2 million parcels, marking a 58% increase year-on-year.

InPost is a Polish-owned courier, parcel delivery and express mail service company, which has its headquarters in Krakow. It has one of the largest parcel locker network across the UK, with around 6,400 automated parcels machines (APMs) and around 1,450 pick up and drop off points (PUDOS).

More widely, the group provides delivery services across nine countries in Europe, through its network of almost 47,000 APMs and almost 35,000 PUDO points, as well as to-door courier and fulfilment services to e-commerce merchants

Reporting on its Q4 2024 performance this week, InPost said its strong quarterly volume growth in the UK was due to its “materially enhanced logistics operations and significant network expansion.” adding that its network in the UK is currently operating at over 100% capacity on average, “indicating substantial room for growth in the number of APMs going forward.”

The group’s out-of-home (OOH) network also continued to expand in the UK during 2024,with over 13,000 OOH points in the UK by the end of last year.

InPost said: “In 2024, we expanded our network of lockers by almost 3,000 machines to over 9,200. In the UK we remain focused on building density of network and improving user experience by adding new services and features for merchants and customers.”

Rafał Brzoska, InPost chief executive, said 2024 was a milestone year for the group.

He added: “In the UK, we completed the acquisition of Menzies, giving us full ownership of the entire UK logistics process. Last year, we doubled our volume year-on-year and recently we launched B2C offering in that market, with over 20 merchants already using the InPost ‘collect’ service.”

He continued: “Based on strong Q4 trading results, we feel comfortable with our full-year outlook communicated in November and we are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.”

InPost also saw strong growth in its hone market in 2024, with increasing demand for both APM and to-door services, resulting in record-high volumes of 209.9 million parcels, a 20% year-on-year increase in Q4 2024.

The group added: “InPost outperformed prior Q4 2024 volume estimates thanks to very strong SME merchants and the fashion industry, while domestic and international marketplaces also contributed positively. Volumes were further boosted by guaranteed pre-Christmas delivery and superior logistics quality KPIs.”

In October last year InPost acquired the remaining 70% of Menzies Distribution Limited for £60.4m, giving it total control over Menzies express and newstrade operations, in a move aimed at building its presence in the UK market.

However, Menzies Distribution Services (MDS) the company’s full load transport services and warehousing arm, is not the part of the transaction. InPost has retained a 30% stake in MDS but it remains under the control of Endless LLP, which acquired MDS in 2018, and will continue to be run by its existing management team.
