Evri has revealed plans to more than double its network of ParcelShops and lockers to 25,000, fuelled by a £50m investment, which will include the rollout of 10,000 smart lockers, the parcel delivery company announced today (30 June).

Evri currently has a network of more than 10,000 ParcelShops and lockers, which includes its flagship independent shop network, Post Office branches, and corporate partners such as Co-op.

The £50m investment will more than double this network by 2030, with Parcelshops and locker locations set to grow to 25,000 – hitting the 2,000 locker milestone before Christmas 2025.

The announcement follows a 500% year-on-year increase in locker usage, a trend which Evri said is set to continue.

It also comes after Evri announced a proposed merger with DHL eCommerce UK, a move which if approved will take the business to delivering a billion parcels and a billion letters a year.

Martijn de Lange, Evri chief executive, said: “We are committed to offering greater delivery choices for the consumers, retail clients, and businesses that we serve.

“This major multi-million-pound investment will establish one of the UK’s largest pick up, drop off networks as part of our mission to become the UK’s premier parcel delivery business.”

He added: “Our expanding network of locations is shaping the future of parcel delivery in the UK with smart technology and greater accessibility.”

All lockers in the Evri network will have high-quality hardware with a label printer, drop box, parcel detection sensors, and will be accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Customers will benefit from an option for a completely contactless experience through geo-based Near Field Communication.

They will also be able to see a pre-arrival capacity indicator to ensure there is space, before making a journey.

Evri said it also intends to continue the growth of its ParcelShop network of independent convenience stores.

Evri is now looking for retail partners and convenience stores to host a locker location, as it grows its network.
