Bretts Transport is relying on a transport management system (TMS) from Microlise in a bid to improve fleet efficiency by 3%.

Alongside the TMS, its £500,000 partnership with the software firm also involves deploying integrated telematics, compliance and proof of delivery technology across its fleet, helping bring everything onto a single connected platform.

Bretts said the move should reduce administrative effort, cut mileage, improve vehicle utilisation and support its ambition to improve fleet efficiency and achieve a targeted 3% improvement in MPG.

The investment follows findings from a report by Microlise, which found businesses are spending 2.3 hours every day manually recording proof of delivery – equivalent to £172.40 per day.

Wayne Minney, transport general manager at Bretts Transport, said: “This investment represents a significant step forward in how we manage and optimise our transport operation.

“By bringing planning, fleet performance, compliance and proof of delivery together into one connected platform, we are moving away from fragmented systems and creating a much clearer view of our operation.”
