Asset Alliance Group has delivered two new DAF XB 190 trucks with personalised plates in just six weeks, to support Furniture Village’s major new store opening in Glasgow.
Furniture Village handles deliveries in-house using a mix of 3.5 tonne and 7.5-tonne box body trucks, topping out with tractor units pulling box body semi-trailers in an approximately 80-strong fleet.
The company has worked with Asset Alliance Group since 2017.
The new 7.5 tonne box body trucks are equipped with Dhollandia tail lifts and will be double-manned and used for home deliveries.
The vehicles are supplied on a five-year contract hire basis with full repair and maintenance, including tyres. The deal was facilitated by Simon Bird, Asset Alliance Group national account manager.
To mark the launch of the Glasgow store, Asset Alliance Group sourced custom plates for the DAFs – FV 25 FVL and FV 24 FVL.
Both trucks were painted and had livery fitted by Midlands-based commercial vehicle specialist WCC.
The 50,000 sq ft Glasgow store, which is located at Hillingdon Park, is the newest and largest store in Furniture Village’s 58-strong estate.
It is the second store Furniture Village has opened in Scotland, and follows the launch of its Edinburgh store last year.
The Glasgow site also features a 17,000 sq ft fulfilment centre, which will be home to the vehicles and could support further expansion in Scotland.
Carl Hood, Furniture Village logistics controller, praised Asset Alliance’s speed of delivery. He said: “It was a tight schedule, and from the green flag going down we moved very quickly. Asset Alliance Group really pulled it out of the bag for us.”
