Norbert Dentressangle has won a four-year contract with hand and power tool supplier Toolbank, covering distribution to stores and Christmas peak warehousing.
The contract covers the collection of products from Toolbank’s two NDCs in the Midlands and night time distribution to 11 Toolbank stores using six dedicated vehicles. It will also cover collection, consolidation and delivery of inter-branch transfers.
During the Christmas peak, ND will store and pick around 4,000 pallets from its Bromford Gate, Birmingham, site. It will then deliver goods through its shared-user network to over 2,000 stockists.
Toolbank’s logistics director, Phil Corby, said that around 30% of its customer sales comes from stock which needs to be transported overnight in time for it to be cross-docked onto its local delivery fleet.
“Toolbank selected Norbert Dentressangle for a number of reasons; the proximity of the company’s Rowley distribution hub to the NDCs, its experience with time critical overnight deliveries and its robust IT solutions, which will provide up-to-date track and trace data on all of our intercompany deliveries,” said Corby.
