Low Wheel UK in Walsall has taken on a new Volvo FH Aero 500 as part of its expansion plans.

The 6x2 tractor unit is the haulier’s 10th truck and it aims to double the size of the fleet within the next year.

Low Wheel UK owner Mick Wheeler said: “We’re always looking to progress as a company, so opting for the very latest product from one of the most respected truck manufacturers was a simple decision.

“In the few weeks our FH Aero has been on the road, it has already been warmly received by both our team and our customers.

“Given that I’ve previously driven full-time myself, I know first-hand that Volvo Trucks has the best gearbox, reliability and fuel efficiency on the market – even before the FH Aero arrived.”

The truck has an optimised aerodynamic design and features that help deliver emissions reductions of up to 5%.

The sleeker cab is 24cm longer than a standard Volvo FH and the Aero includes Volvo’s camera monitoring system, which replaces the traditional exterior mirrors, helping to boost aerodynamic performance further.

The truck will be used within the firm’s forklift transport operations, with the tractor unit paired with a bespoke-built forklift transport trailer.

Low Wheel UK has welcomed a brand-new Volvo FH Aero 500 6x2 tractor unit, the first FH Aero to be deployed into day-to-day customer operation in the UK.
