The first Volvo FH Aero in Wales has gone into service at JP Bull Transport in Pontypool.
The Aero 6x2 tractor unit will carry out general haulage work including deliveries for a supermarket chain and make collections from depots in South Wales and the South West of England to anywhere across the UK.
Jonathan Bull, director at JP Bull Transport, said: “It’s nice to have Wales’ first Aero in operation, we were the first ones to put the last generation of the FH into service when that came out too.
“We have 24 trucks in total and 22 of those are Volvos now. The product is good and the drivers like it. It helps attract and retain drivers if you can offer them good kit and Volvo is definitely good kit!”
The Aero’s delivery follows Walsall-based Low Wheel UK’s purchase of the new model earlier this month.
The truck has an optimised aerodynamic design and features that help deliver emissions reductions of up to 5%.
Bull added: “We are really excited to see how all the technology on this new model performs.
“The key is for our drivers to really understand and maximise that technology, to unlock those fuel efficiency benefits. We are expecting good things.”
