16) Rob Flello MP
Title: Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Freight Transport and MP for Stoke-on-Trent South
Flello is the pre-eminent voice in Westminster when it comes to freight. Just before the election he said that it was “a largely misunderstood industry, often disregarded, or worse, by many in society, which sadly includes far too many MP’s and indeed ministers who don’t understand it”.
He’s aided both the RHA and FTA in campaigning on the driver shortage, the importance of logistics and on driver safety in Calais (“We cannot carry on as if this crisis will simply go away of its own accord,” he said in October).
Not enough for you? He’s also a member of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Fair Fuel for Motorists and Hauliers which has close links to the FairFuelUK campaign and a remit to investigate high petrol and diesel prices. If there was a hot button issue in road transport in 2015, Flello was raising it in Parliament.
