The Metropolitan Police are to speak at the FTA’s Managing Freight in London conference next month.
The event plans to highlight and address the issues operators are to face in the coming two to three years, and will include a talk from the Met on HGV regulation and police enforcement.
The talk, to be led by the Commercial Vehicle Unit’s Rob Beckers, will also address the upcoming London Safer Lorry Scheme and how it will be enforced across the city.
Beckers said: “TfL and the Met have increased enforcement work on HGVs in London in the last two years and our targeted work is yielding good results in addressing operators who are non-compliant with safety related regulations.
“At the conference I will be briefing attendees about how our enforcement works, the most typical mistakes these operators are making as well as the extreme examples of criminal behaviour.
"This is part of our efforts to work with the logistics industry to raise standards and ensure all vehicles and drivers on London’s roads are being operated the way they should be.”
The TfL-sponsored event will also include discussion of possibilities for improving emissions, the impact the crrent city-wide works are having on businesses and advice on how to minimise risk of incurring Penalty Charge Notices for loading activity, among other topics.
