Kuehne + Nagel is to replace food service customer Spirit Pub Company’s entire fleet with 56 new Iveco trucks as part of an open book contract.

The order includes 39 Stralis Hi-Street 26-tonne rigids, 14 Stralis Hi-Street 18-tonne rigids, and three Stralis Hi-Way 6x2 tractor units.

All rigid vehicles are being fitted with refrigerated bodies built by Solomon and equipped with Frigoblock multi-temp refrigeration units.

Spirit demerged in September 2011 from Punch Taverns. It has an estate of more than 800 managed pubs and more than 500 leased pubs trading under brands including Chef & Brewer, Fayre & Square and Flaming Grill.

Its fleet requires vehicles to carry out urban multi-drop work, regional deliveries and trunking, with trucks in operation for up to 12 hours a day, six days per week, travelling an estimated 100,000km a year.

Daniel Stretton, senior supply chain manager at Spirit Pub Company, said: “Our vehicles face a different route every time they go out, depending on the demand from our different pubs.
"We need vehicles which can perform in all environments and which offer maximum reliability and fuel-efficiency for our business. We’re confident that the Stralis range is ideal for the job.”

Spirit Pub Company expects to complete its transition to an all-Iveco operation by the end of October.

Kuehne + Nagel won its food service logistics contract with Spirit in March 2012, commiting £5m at the time to multi-temperature DCs and a fleet of 60 vehicles for the operation.
