Kuehne + Nagel plans to move into a depot at London Heathrow airport next year, as it continues with its restructuring plans.

The 130,000ft² flagship warehouse will be located on the Heathrow South Cargo Centre and is due to open in early 2015.

A K+N spokeswoman was unavailable to disclose how many vehicles are likely to be operated from the site.

Last year the operator unveiled plans to close down some of its regional sites used for its Kuehne + Nagel Drinks Logistics (KNDL) operation, opting to develop three ‘super hubs’ in Thatcham, Livingstone and Wakefield instead.

K+N last year closed 40 ‘unprofitable locations’ across Europe, and saw increases in both its turnover and EBITDA.
