Road transport platform SNAP has officially launched its first driver-focused event at the Embassy Truck Park, taking its major “More than a way to pay” brand campaign directly to frontline haulage workers.
The initiative marks the firm’s biggest brand campaign to date, aiming to shift the conversation from digital transaction facilitation to the real-life operational and social needs of professional drivers across the UK and Europe.
During the event, the SNAP team provided free meals, wash bags, and water bottles to the drivers. However, the core focus was gathering first-hand feedback about current industry conditions, including safety concerns, career paths, and overnight facilities.
One international driver with nine years of experience highlighted how crucial reliable parking and human connection are during long stints away from home. “Knowing that you’re going to end up in a decent place to park and get a decent meal at the end of the day” makes life on the road easier,” he said.
He added that modern social habits mean drivers often sit apart, noting: “Sometimes it’s nice to have a chat on an evening. A lot of drivers don’t chat to each other.”
He explained that smaller locations like Embassy Truck Park encourage better social interaction: “It’s nice if you get to come somewhere nice that’s got a nice shower, nice atmosphere. It makes the week go a little bit better… We’re all just human beings at the end of the day. We have bad days, we have good days.”
Security also topped the agenda for newer drivers navigating rising crime rates on the network. A driver with one year of experience, working for WD Logistics, emphasized that secure networks are now non-negotiable.
“If it wasn’t for SNAP, I wouldn’t be able to park anywhere… with all the diesel thefts at the moment and the rise of thefts, it’s essential that you have SNAP,” the driver noted.
Highlighting the different routes drivers can take to develop their skills, specialise and progress within the HGV industry. the driver added: “Truck driving is more than a job because it’s a career.”
The feedback gathered from the roadshow will actively shape SNAP’s strategic development across its European network, focusing heavily on driver welfare, facility quality, cargo security, and international fleet efficiency.
Lucy Black, SNAP head of brand and digital marketing, said: “More than a way to pay is about recognising the responsibility that comes with the position SNAP holds within the industry.
“We have an opportunity to listen to drivers, fleets and partners, understand the challenges they face, and use our technology, data and network to help make a genuine difference.
“Our first event at Embassy Services was a great example of what we want this campaign to be about. Yes, we wanted to give something back to drivers with a free meal and some useful items for life on the road, but the most valuable part of the day was simply sitting down and talking.
“We heard about good days and difficult days, the importance of finding somewhere safe and welcoming to stop, and how much something as simple as a conversation can matter when you spend so much of your working life on the road.
“These are the voices we want to continue giving a platform to. More than a way to pay isn’t just about what SNAP provides; it’s about listening to the industry and understanding how we can use our position to support the people who keep it moving.”
The broader multi-market campaign is currently rolling out across four European countries, combining digital media, driver films, and industry event partnerships.
