Chemical transport specialist HW Coates saw turnover and profits grow considerably last year, despite operating in a sector with “very modest economic growth”.

The Lutterworth headquartered distribution and warehousing company reported a 5% increase in revenues to £75.3m in the year ending 31 December 2025.

Pre-tax profit rose by 27.8% to £38.7m (£30.2m) and operating profit increased from £23.7m to £24.3m.

Most of the increase in turnover was derived from its transport, storage and handling work, which jumped from £56.9m in 2024 to £59.8m last year.

The company said the macro economic background in which it operated was flat during the year with only the first half of the year seeing modest growth: “Our markets reflected this, with volumes lower and limited scope to raise prices to pass on increased costs,” it added.

HW Coates operates out of four traffic areas, including Scotland, running between 17 and 67 lorries.
