Thomas Hardie Commercials has supplied the first Volvo trucks – four FH-500 tractor units – to enter service with Lancashire operator Huntapac Produce.
The Globetrotter-cabbed FHs are equipped with leather upholstery, fridges, sliding fifth wheels and four cameras, including two on the near side to help spot vulnerable road users. Each truck is expected to cover in the region of 180,000km a year.
Tarleton-based Huntapac conducted an evaluation process that compared demonstrators’ fuel economy, AdBlue usage, performance and driver input.
David Bonehill, fleet manager at Huntapac, said: “I’m very happy with the fuel economy so far, indeed, one of the FHs is averaging 11.1mpg.”
