Kitchen manufacturer Howdens has taken on two new 19-tonne Renault E-Tech D-Wides as part of its road to zero roadmap.
Both vehicles were procured through Yusen Logistics and came after Howdens announced a reduction of CO2 across its fleet, thanks to an increase in driver capability and efficiency.
Last year it also introduced Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) to its fleet.

The measures meant CO2 emissions fell by 6% and this figure is now expected to rise with the introduction of the electric trucks.
Gareth Sterland, head of transport at Howdens, said: “We’ve made some very encouraging progress towards increasing the sustainability of our fleet over the past year, and the introduction of our new electric vehicles is a very key step in reducing our carbon footprint even further.
“We conducted a trial of the effectiveness of electric vehicles, and had some brilliant results, so we’re delighted to be bringing the vehicles in on a permanent basis.”
