A man has pleaded guilty to causing the death of an HGV driver on the M6 in Staffordshire earlier this year.

Cliff Tamou, who drove for SSO Logistics on Merseyside, was standing outside of his MAN after it broke down between junctions 16 and 15 southbound on 27 February.

The 58-year-old was hit by a Toyota Avensis and suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash.

Ghulam Haider, 22, from Dudley, pleaded guilty at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court to causing the death of Tamou by dangerous driving.

Staffordshire police said Tamou’s family continue to be supported by specialist officers. Haider is due to be sentenced on Friday 20 June.

SSO Logistics set up a GoFundMe page for Tamou’s family after the incident with a £10,000 target. So far it has raised just under £28,000.
