Gregory Distribution has invested in a fleet of 10 new temperature controlled trailers for its work with the Appleby Westward Group servicing Spar stores across the south west of England.
The Gray & Adams trailers all feature Carrier Transicold Vector 1950 MT fridges, all-round lighting, directional reversing lights and rear illumination for loading and unloading operations.
They also have internal moving longitudinal bulkheads to allow for varying payloads of frozen, chilled and ambient goods.
All the fridge units are equipped with Carrier’s patented E-Drive electric technology, which removes the need for the mechanical transmissions found in conventional belt-driven systems and uses a generator to transform engine power into electricity, allowing the fridge to work without the tractor engine being on.
Simon Thomson, Gregory’s Spar contract operations manager, said the firm’s drivers were “delighted” with the new trailers, adding that they would be “worked intensively over the next decade”.
Gregory has also invested recently in 10 new Scania tractive units for the Spar contract.
