Geodis has been appointed by wholesaler Cotswold Fayre to manage its warehousing and the distribution of its portfolio of food and drinks to retailers across the UK, under a three-year deal.
The operator has been delivering all Cotswold Fayre’s shipments to its 1,750 retailers since March, and starting this month is now providing what it describes as “a complete supplier to retailer logistics service”.
This includes collecting products from listed suppliers, warehousing and stock management and picking orders for direct delivery to retailers.
The process will avoid the additional environmental impact of moving of goods through regional distribution hubs, and is part of Cotswold Fayre's efforts to consolidate its transport network and reduce its carbon footprint in a bid to become a carbon-neutral organisation.

Under the new arrangement it is estimated that its goods will travel 1.7 million miles fewer each year as a consequence.
Dave Truscott, commercial director of Cotswold Fayre, said: “I am delighted, that following an extensive review of our ambient warehousing and logistical arrangements, we have found a partner that aligns so well with our values and culture.
“Geodis operates a modern and efficient fleet, which will nearly halve the CO2 emissions we generate and as a result, we will be able to offset all our CO2 emissions produced from our ambient distribution from August 2019.”
