Fraikin has placed a £4m order for Euro-6 Iveco trucks for its rental division.

The new vehicles comprise a mixture of Eurocargo rigids and Stralis Hi-Way tractors and will be new additions to the firm’s 1,000-strong rental parc, in which Fraikin has invested £27m in since the start of last year.

Fraikin claims the deal “ranks amongst the largest Euro-6 truck orders placed by a UK rental company”.

All new vehicles will be in operation between December 2014 and January 2015.

Peter Backhouse, Fraikin CEO, said: “The Euro-6 trucks will complement our current fleet and help us further reduce both our own and our customers’ carbon footprints. They will also ensure we ‘future-proof’ our fleet from possible changes in Low Emission Zone requirements in the years ahead, bringing genuine advantages and supporting our customers’ needs.”

In addition to the truck order, Fraikin has invested around £400,000 in new 3.5-tonne Daily chassis cabs with Luton Van bodies. The company said the LCVs are expected to be amongst the first latest-generation Iveco Dailys to join any spot hire operation in the country.
