Fortec has pledged to donate one penny from every pallet that is handled by both the network and Pall-Ex to a local baby hospice.

The Northamptonshire firm hopes to raise more than £10,000 this year and split it between Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice and the fundraising efforts of Fortec shareholder members.

It has a long-standing partnership with the Coventry charity and has donated over £30,000 in eight years.

Fortec is now launching the Penny-A-Pallet scheme, which has proven successful with the group’s other member network Pall-Ex since it was introduced over 20 years ago.

The contribution to the hospice will see it continue to deliver vital palliative, respite and end-of-life care to babies and infants aged up to five years who suffer from life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.

Fortec said the importance of donating to Zoe’s Place is even greater this year, as the hospice has seen its funding severely reduced as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tanita Mistry, corporate fundraiser at the charity, said: “Fundraising accounts for a considerable amount of our income and Covid-19 has meant many events have been cancelled, making our future uncertain.

“Therefore, now more than ever, we must say a huge thank you to Fortec for its continued support and generosity.”
