Parcel giant FedEx Express is preparing for its busiest ‘Cyber Monday’ yet, expecting an 11% year-on-year increase in worldwide parcel volumes.
It estimates it will move around 22 million parcels on Monday 2 December, which Amazon has warned will be the busiest day for online retail orders. Last year, the operator received around 19.9 million parcels on its busiest day.
Volumes coming into FedEx’s network in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region are expected to peak on 16 December, with a forecast 3% increase on 2012’s peak import day.
It also expects that express deliveries leaving EMEA to go to other worldwide destinations will increase by 8.4% on last year’s figures, with its busiest day for this falling on 17 December.
