FairFuelUK (FFUK) has doubled its “email your MP” target after surpassing its original 25,000 marker in just two weeks.
Since launching its email push, which calls on operators and the public to get in touch with their local MP through the FFUK website, 25,867 emails have been sent opposing August’s planned 3ppl fuel duty rise.
FFUK has also garnered the support of 38 MPs in its bid to win enough support to table an amendment to the Finance Bill to get the rise scrapped.
The amendment effort is being led by Scottish National Party MP Stewart Hosie and has cross-party support.
• FFUK has won the CIPR’s Public Affairs campaign of the year. Finalists included Macmillan, Maitland Political and The Royal British Legion.
