DX Group has ordered four specially designed 5-tonne GVW vehicles with chassis conversions and lightweight bodies.
The cab is a Fiat Ducato Maxi with a 3 litre engine. The chassis was supplied and fitted by Al-Ko Kober in Warwickshire and the body supplied by Leicester-based Doyles Commercial Vehicle Bodybuilding. Each have a payload capacity of 2,200kgs.
The first two have entered operation at its Heathrow and Exeter service centres, while the remaining two are due to be delivered to its depots in Northampton and Plymouth.
The firm’s half-year results this week showed that turnover fell to £147.4m as it continued to shed undesirable contracts as they came up for renewal.
DX bought a stake in London-based zero-emission delivery firm Gnewt Cargo in December, and plans to expand its service into other cities.
