Dunlop Motorsport has added two temperature-controlled trailers to its fleet to help maintain a constant temperature when transporting its tyres.
The trailers, built by M6 Motor Bodies in Birmingham, have been fitted with Carrier Transicold Vector 1550 refrigeration units to maintain the condition of its tyres while they are being delivered to various motorsport events.
Both are the first temperature-controlled trailers in Dunlop’s fleet and use Carrier’s E-Drive all-electric technology, which generates electricity for the refrigeration unit using power from the engine, removing the use of mechanical parts.
Payload capacity has also been maximised as Carrier claims the 1550 unit is one of the lightest on the market at 740 kilograms.
Dunlop’s motorsport transport manager Tony Duffy said: “We tasked M6 Motor Bodies with creating a very specialised trailer that would keep our tyres in the best possible condition. By teaming with Carrier Transicold, M6 Motor Bodies has produced trailers that are exactly as we wanted, and we will put them to good use at events around the world.”
The trailers are also fitted with specialist racks for tyres and trailer width can be expanded when parked.
