DPD and Interlink Express parent Geopost UK has submitted plans for a depot in Etruria, near Stoke-on-Trent.
The depot, which a spokesman confirmed to Motortransport.co.uk is in addition to DPD’s investment in 15 new or upgraded hubs and depots by the end of 2015, will include spaces for 16 HGVs and 120 vans if given the green light.
Documents submitted to Stoke-on-Trent City Council in September also include plans for a 60,000ft² site, including 50,000ft² of warehousing space.
The spokesman was unable to comment further on the application, but said the carrier's plans to expand its network are ongoing and said more depots are likely to be announced in future.
A decision on the site is expected to be made by the end of the year.
In July, DPD began delivering parcels seven days a week to meet demand from its e-commerce customers.
