DPD has denied that it is currently considering opening a fifth hub in 2018-20.
The parcel carrier, which recently received planning permission to develop its 330,000 ft² East Midlands hub in Hinckley, Leicestershire, said it has not yet set out plans for expansion beyond the investments planned over the next two to three years.
A spokesman for the carrier said: “There are no firm plans beyond that at this stage but clearly if we continue to grow at our current rate, then our investment programme will continue too.”
DPD was responding to a media report suggesting a fifth site for the carrier was go.
The Hinckley hub is expected to increase DPD’s overall sorting capacity by 65% and is hoped to be operational in 2015.
