Daimler Truck UK and Daimler Truck Financial Services have officially opened their new head office, offering a one-stop shop for the manufacturer’s trucking business in the UK.

The move to the new facilit at Willen, Milton Keynes, follows the formation of Daimler Truck UK, the wholesale distributor for Mercedes-Benz Trucks and FUSO Trucks in Great Britain, and Mercedes-Benz Trucks in Northern Ireland, earlier this year.

The manufacturer said the move represents a significant change, with the the two businesses locating to a site solely dedicated to its truck business, from premises at nearby Tongwell, which were shared with the UK headquarters of Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars, Vans and Financial Services.

The new building also houses Daimler Truck UK’s Parts Logistics Centre, which was already based at the site.

The facility, which boasts the highest possible 85% BREEAM rating, features high ceiling clearance with natural light panels in the warehouse, to reduce energy consumption and a rain water collection system that feeds the washrooms in the office area. There are also plans to install electric truck charging via solar panels at the site.

Heiko Selzam, Daimler Truck UK MD (pictured centre right) and Nick Andrews, MD of Daimler Truck Financial Services UK (pictured far left) cut the tape to officially declare the new building open. They were joined for the occasion by representatives from Daimler Truck’s global headquarters in Stuttgart - Jean Marc Diss, head of sales and marketing (pictured centre left), and Florian Schulz, head of sales and customer services at FUSO Europe (pictured far right).

Heiko commented: “The opening of this site represents the final step in the process of dedicating ourselves entirely to the needs of truck operators, and our dealer network, in the UK.

”Separating our business from the car and van divisions was a complex and challenging task but has brought the benefit of allowing us to focus on what we do best – bringing our industry-leading vehicles, and the entire ecosystem of support services that back them up, to more customers than ever before.”

Andrews added: “We can now work even more closely with our sales and aftersales colleagues to bring our full suite of products to UK truck operators, to help find the most cost-efficient solutions to the wide range of challenges faced by the transport industry today and into the future.”
