The Hub was saddened to learn of the death of Richard Charnely, managing director of Cumbria Logistics (often referred to as either Hazchem Network depot 069 or TPN depot 003) last month.
Ali Karim, MD of the HazChem network (pictured), paid a heartfelt tribute to his colleague and friend on the company website describing him as “one of the nicest, and funniest guys in the logistics business”.
Charnley started his career in transport at Sutton’s Tankers, before founding his own business (R Charnely and Sons) which started as a parcel carrier before moving into pallet and hazchem work. It wasn’t his only career path though, as he once worked as a chef, and also ran a gun shop in Cumbria. He is survived by his wife Maureen and his sons James and Jason.
