Culina Logistics has put 140 Euro-5 Volvo FH tractor units on the road, purchased under derogation.
The FH4 trucks have been supplied by the Hartshorne Group with full repair and maintenance contracts and were taken on as part of Culina’s fleet replacement programme. They will be used to deliver food and drink to customers nationwide.
The order takes the operator’s average fleet age to below two years and the size of the fleet to more than 350 trucks.
Culina chose the Volvo FHs because of their reliability, fuel efficiency and upgraded driver’s cabs, which it believes will help to maintain resale value.
Culina Logistics CEO Thomas Van Mourik said: “We are doing more mileage and more deliveries. This means that the reliability of vehicles and their operating cost, along with our environmental responsibilities, are of paramount importance.
“We are in a fortunate position because we are a healthy company and can therefore renew the fleet on a regular basis.”
