Clugston Distribution has revealed a £2.15m fleet expansion and renewal plan, as part of its strategy to boost its presence in the fuels, bulk powdered food, intermodal and bulk ash markets.
The investment will see the purchase of 18 new Euro-6 Renault tractor units, and 14 new trailers.
Nine of the new Renaults will replace existing vehicles, while the remainder will be split across different divisions: four will deliver bulk food powders, such as flour; two will be working on industrial powder haulage for cement and ash producers; and three will be used on the company’s fuel distribution fleet.
In addition to the new vehicles, Clugston also plans to recruit 13 new members of staff this year.
David Heath, head of logistics at Clugston Distribution, said he was delighted with the commitment shown by parent firm Clugston Group towards the logistics division’s growth plans. “We are forecasting double-digit revenue growth again in 2014.”
The company has spent £4m on trucks and trailers in the past two years, with its fleet size expected to reach 100 vehicles by the end of 2014.
