A new fleet of 11 tri-axle stepframe forklift trailers from Andover Trailers, are being put into operation by Barloworld Handling and its logistics provider Canute Haulage.

Canute Haulage has invested more than £1.2m in 11 bespoke forklift trailers for its contract with materials equipment provider Barloworld Handling.

The order includes nine 13.6m and two 10.9m trailers, with the latter designed for making deliveries within London and the south east.

The tri-axle step frame trailers have curtainside bodywork with sliding roofs and were built by Andover Trailers.

“The full height and full width power-toe ramps ensure a shallow loading angle, meaning we can accommodate even the lowest ground clearance warehouse equipment, whilst the sliding roof enables us to transport high-mast machines,” said Canute Group fleet engineer Michael French.

The trailers feature swing-out rear pillars to ensure Canute’s drivers will not be restricted by the width of the door frame while loading larger machines.

Reversing cameras have also been fitted.

French added: “The trailers also enable us to maximise the number of machines we can carry at a time, which reduces vehicle movements and is better for the environment.”

In May Canute bought its 12th warehouse.
