Parcel freight firm DX has opened a new depot in Newport, Wales - the first of 15 former Tuffnells Express depots to be brought back into operation, after DX took them over in the wake of rival Tuffnell’s collapse in June.
The 15,800sq ft facility is located on a 2.7-acre site in an industrial estate north-west of Newport city centre, in Rogerstone, and has a purpose-built cross dock and parking space for 20 trailers.
The depot will support the operations of the group’s DX Freight division, which specialises in the delivery of irregular dimension and weight items and provides two-man and logistics services.

DX said it will also support the increase in volumes that the firm has taken on, including former customers of Tuffnells.
It added that the process of opening and integrating the remaining former Tuffnells depots within the group’s existing network “is well under way”, with plans for the network to be “further optimised” over the next 18 months.
