Gatwick-based logistics specialist DNA is gearing up for further expansion in 2021 following a 40% increase in palletised freight consignments since the Covid pandemic.

A member of leading express distribution network Palletforce, DNA has created eight new jobs since the summer and aims to further increase its 65-strong staff in the coming months to meet the demand from UK manufacturers for more flexible and cost-effective freight transport and storage.

Commented MD Tony Bunn: “One effect of lockdown has been that increasing numbers of manufacturers and producers have switched to express distribution networks to help them cost-effectively manage variable and fluctuating volumes.

“This year we have seen increases of up to 40% in our palletised goods shipments, and we’ve had to react accordingly. Flexibility is the key, and as members of Palletforce we have been able to reinforce our operations on the ground with the power of a national network behind us.”

Bunn founded DNA in 2006 with wife Danielle. Starting out as a one-man-one-van delivery business, the company now has a fleet of more than 50 vehicles and is a preferred supplier to TNT, offering next day courier and palletised freight services.

The company joined Palletforce in 2016, and now covers key postcodes in Gatwick, Reigate, Crawley and Kingston.

Working closely with Palletforce, DNA is also offering on-the-ground support to local businesses needing advice and guidance with post-Brexit trading regulations.

“Palletforce has experienced European partners and all the customs processes in place to ensure goods continue to flow to over 30 European countries,” he said.

“DNA can therefore help its local businesses handle customs formalities and ensure they remain connected to continental customers and markets, while continuing to provide the best possible European services for our customers and for any other businesses whose current suppliers may not be as far advanced.”
