Wincanton has turned to Volvo for the delivery of two new tankers that will cover 180,000km each year, collecting milk from farms across South Wales.

Both FM 8x2 tankers replace older models from a rival marque and have been built on a 5,100mm wheelbase with a rear steering tag axle and a D11K Euro VI Step D engine.

Wincanton technical services director Dave Rowlands said it chose Volvo as it was able to meet “the precise configuration we needed”.

He said: “Quality and safety are also key to milk transportation; it’s something that runs deep within our heritage and Volvo shares the same values.”

Both vehicles come with adaptive cruise control with forward collision warning, a lane departure warning system and a specified four-way recordable camera system.
