Former Bibby Distribution head of business development, David Hutchings, has been appointed to the newly created role of head of business development at Gloucestershire-based CM Downton. Downton, which won the Motor Transport Haulier of the Year Award in June and has doubled its turnover in the last three years, says Hutchings will be key to achieving its targets for further growth. Prior to joining Bibby, Hutchings held senior business development roles at Wincanton and Christian Salvesen.
Bibby Distribution Services is to change its name to Bibby Supply Chain Services following its return to profitability in 2013.
Bibby Distribution will use its full allocation of 25 longer semi-trailers (LSTs) when it takes delivery of twelve more 15.65m models. They will join 13 identical Don-Bur trailers which Bibby added to its fleet in 2012 as part of the on-going trial of longer trailers.
