Wincanton has appointed a new chief executive after the decision by its current CEO Adrian Colman to retire. Colman will be replaced by James Wroath, currently chief operating officer, North America, for Lufthansa subsidiary LSG Sky Chefs. This year’s winner of the Haulier of the Year award was Wincanton, the UK’s largest logistics operator, which has seen a remarkable turnaround in performance after a difficult few years.
Eddie Stobart Logistics (ESL) has hit back at Wincanton’s claims this week that it has withdrawn its interest in bidding for the company due to a lack of financial information, insisting it gave Wincanton “extensive due diligence commensurate with its status as a strategic competitor”.
Wincanton saw annual turnover fall in the year ended 31 March 2019 but profit increase, thanks to a strong performance in retail that offset contract losses elsewhere.
