CitySprint

CitySprint has acquired all operations at Woking-based Eagle Express Worldwide Couriers.

Its same-day, international and UK overnight operations were acquired by CitySprint on 8 December, taking its network to 35 depots and 2,000 couriers. It will be transferred over to the CitySprint brand later this month.

CitySprint said the transition will be seamless for Eagle Express’ customers and it will continue to be serviced by the same staff at the same depot in Old Woking.

Chief executive Patrick Gallagher said: “This deal is another important step in CitySprint’s ongoing growth strategy. We’re delighted to be increasing our presence in Woking and tapping into Eagle Express’ local knowledge.”

Eagle Express owner Ian McLean, who founded the company in 1998, said the firm is working with CitySprint to ensure the integration is a “seamless process”.

This latest deal follows CitySprint’s acquisition of Thames Valley-based Scarlet Couriers in July, taking on its same-day, international and overnight operations in Bracknell as well as its same-day operation in Slough.
