The Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce in conjunction with Invergold Associates is holding Birmingham’s premier transport conference on 23 October 2018
The first Birmingham Transport Conference being held at Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce venue will be chaired by the editor of Motor Transport Steve Hobson who will be introducing the key note speakers at the event.
The conference is being held to bring together operators from the HGV and PSV industry and inform them with matters that can affect the operator’s licence in light of the latest legislation and regulatory practices.
The traffic commissioner for the West Midlands Nick Denton (pictured) will be giving his views on matters that are being referred to him by the DVSA and how he expects transport operators to comply with the terms of their O-licences.
The DVSA will be represented by Howard Forrester who is enforcement delivery manager covering Stafford, Shropshire, West Midlands, Birmingham, Hereford and Gloucester.
He will be discussing the issues that face both the enforcement authorities and operators with regard to compliance issues as well as Earned Recognition which was launched earlier this year
Carolyn Evans is a specialist transport lawyer who has turned gamekeeper to poacher having worked for the DVSA as prosecuting council. She will run through 10 famous cases that have helped formed transport law and its implications at a public inquiry.
Councillor Wasim Zaffar, head of transport at Birmingham City Council, will be discussing clear air zones and congestion within the city and how it will have an impact on transport operators.
Martin Parrack, a consultant at Invergold Associates, will be discussing best practice for operators when dealing with O-licence compliance matters.
