Argos is to put 76 newly-branded trucks on the road this autumn, comprising a mixture of Mercedes-Benz Actros units and Scania P340 gas-powered trucks.
The trucks, replacements for older vehicles, will feature the retailer’s new advertising stapline, Get Set Go Argos.
The 71 Euro-6 Mercedes Actros tractor units all have 400hp straight-six engines, Mercedes PowerShift 3 automated transmissions and the 2.3m-wide ClassicSpace sleeper cab. They are also fitted with Hatcher Components’ Active Freddie fuel saving spoiler, which automatically adjusts to the height of the trailer to minimise fuel consumption.
The Actros will join five natural gas-powered Scania P340s, which will also be put into service by the end of the year.
The new vehicles will support the retailer's fleet of 400 trucks and 1,000 trailers, which deliver a range of 43,000 products to 734 stores nationwide. They will also be used to deliver to consumers’ homes.
James Colbourne, head of strategic accounts - trucks, Mercedes-Benz UK, said: “Working with Argos on their latest Euro-6 vehicles has been an incredibly interesting and positive experience. Argos has a new fleet that will provide a robust and reliable partner for many years to come.
“The livery is sure to strike a chord and complement Argos’ strong brand image,” added Colbourne.
