Arcese UK said it had suffered from a downward trend in its industrial and automotive businesses last year, which fell by almost a quarter compared to 2023.

The UK and European logistics firm said this reduction was only partially compensated by an increase in its fashion haulage work, which increased by 21%.

Turnover at the company for the year ending 31 December 2024 reduced by 2.8% to £32.8m (£33.7m) and pre-tax profits fell by 28% to £1.2m, compared to £1.6m in 2023.

However, the group said it had improved the gross profit margin from 33% to 39% through its “continuing practice of controlling both fixed and variable costs and retaining contract work with stronger margins”.

Arcese added: “The outlook is relatively buoyant for 2025 and beyond as the company continues to strengthen its UK position in the market.

“The business remains optimistic for its future positive trading and growth, investing in its security infrastructure, sales force and accreditations with customs and government bodies.

“The business is prudent for its future due to the general economic slowdown and the geopolitical uncertainty.”
