The footage was shared online by Nottingham resident Rosa Vasa after her Ring doorbell caught on camera an Amazon delivery driver removing a box containing a £225 mobile phone left out of site of the street in Sneinton.
Vasa was reported by the BBC as saying the phone was purchased from Ebay by her 18-year-old son using money earned alongside his studies.
“It’s heart-breaking, my son worked hard to get the money for the phone,” the BBC reported her saying.
“We shared the video, and people have been supportive, the community has been really helpful. I think people will be more alert now.”
Motor Transport contacted Amazon for a comment and a spokesman said: “We have very high standards for the delivery service providers we work with and how they serve customers.
“We are investigating the incident.”
