McGregor Logistics in Doncaster has officially appointed administrators to take control of its affairs, almost a month after it signalled it was in financial difficulties.

Insolvency practitioners at Forvis Mazars in Manchester and London were appointed to the international haulage firm at the end of October, although the business advisory firm did not respond when approached by Motor Transport.

The company was incorporated 20 years ago and operated lorries out of its bases in Doncaster, Scunthorpe, Peterborough and Tilbury.

Its website said it relied on curtain sided trailers, walking floor trailers, Moffett mounted curtain sided trailers, skeletal trailers, refrigerated box trailers and low loaders.

In 2020 it took out a three-year lease on a 40,000sq ft unit at the St Modwen Park industrial estate and the following year it more than doubled its warehousing space after adding an additional 55,000sq ft unit.

As well as offering logistics, warehousing and pallet work, McGregor Logistics said it specialised in the transport of biomass fuel and renewable energy products.

The last set of accounts for the firm revealed that it employed an average of 145 staff.
