The DfT has confirmed its ministerial team’s areas of responsibility, following the Cabinet reshuffle at the start of the month.

The reshuffle on 4 September saw Patrick McLoughlin replace Justine Greening in the department’s top role as transport secretary.

The responsibilities of Stephen Hammond, the Conservative MP for Wimbledon who replaced Mike Penning,  include the Highways Agency, road safety, better regulation and freight and logistics – including the lorry road user charge.

Simon Burns, Conservative MP for Chelmsford, replaced Theresa Villiers. His responsibilities include rail strategy, international and Europe and aviation.

Norman Baker, who was at the DfT before the reshuffle, will look after public transport including taxis, traffic management and SMEs and growth.
